Attend a family-friendly talk on an astronomy-related topic, then enjoy viewing through a variety of telescopes.

Public lectures will occur every Friday and some Saturdays. Programs begin at 9:00 PM . The astronomy talks last approximately 30 minutes. Your public lecture registration includes access to our astronomy museum and viewing through a variety of small telescopes.

To view through our iconic 30” telescope in the dome, be sure to sign up for a Dome Tour. Regular dome tours last 30 minutes and include viewing of several astronomical objects through the telescope. Deluxe dome tours last 1 hour and include viewing of additional objects and a smaller audience.

Premier Astronomy Nights include a talk by an astronomer and a deluxe dome tour, all with a maximum of 10 guests.

You must be able to climb approximately 15 stairs to access the dome.

PAYMENT: VISA/Mastercard/Discover cards are preferred.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Public lectures and dome tours are extremely popular and fill up fast. If your plans change and you can no longer attend your scheduled viewing, please send an e-mail to gunnisonobservatory@gmail.com to let us know so we can provide you a refund and make those spots available for someone else. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the event will not be refunded. In the event weather prevents us from viewing with the dome telescope, Dome Tour tickets will be automatically refunded.

Please Note

Separate tickets are required for the astronomy talks (with small scope viewing) and dome tours (viewing through the 30” telescope), with the exception of premier nights and Sunday deluxe tours.
